The Auben Difference: Property Management Built by Real Estate Investors

Why We Built Auben: A Better Approach to Property Management for Real Estate Investors

Successful real estate investing isn’t just about finding the right property—it’s about having the right team to help protect, maintain, and grow your investment. That’s the philosophy that inspired Auben from the very beginning.

Our story began with firsthand experience. After entering the real estate industry in 2004 and purchasing rental properties shortly thereafter, our founder quickly discovered that quality property management services designed specifically for investors were difficult to find. While investing through the changing market conditions surrounding the 2008 financial crisis, it became clear that many property management companies focused primarily on collecting rent rather than helping investors build long-term wealth.

That realization became the foundation for Auben.

Built by Investors, for Investors

At Auben, we understand the challenges that property owners face because we’ve experienced them ourselves.

Managing rental properties requires much more than responding to maintenance requests or filling vacancies. Investors need strategic guidance, operational excellence, and a partner who understands how every decision impacts the long-term performance of their portfolio.

That’s why Auben was created with a mission to support responsible real estate investing while creating positive outcomes for residents, property owners, and the communities we serve. Our goal is simple:

Improve people, property, and places—one residential rental property at a time.

A Full-Service Property Management Partner

Today’s investors need more than traditional property management. They need a team that can oversee every stage of the investment lifecycle.

Auben offers comprehensive services designed to simplify ownership and maximize investment performance, including:

  • Professional property management
  • Residential real estate sales
  • Renovation and project management
  • In-house maintenance services

By bringing these services together under one roof, investors benefit from streamlined communication, faster response times, and better oversight of their assets.

Looking Beyond Property Management

Owning rental property is about more than day-to-day operations.

Every investment decision—from renovations and maintenance planning to leasing strategies and capital improvements—affects long-term returns.

That’s why Auben continues expanding beyond traditional property management by developing comprehensive asset management solutions. Our vision is to help investors make informed decisions that improve portfolio performance while reducing the complexity of ownership.

Speaker 1 (00:00):

I first got into real estate in the fall of 2004. I was living in New York City and decided that I wanted to transition from my attempted career as a music journalist into real estate. So I worked as a leasing agent in New York City. I bought my first rental property around that time, but I got very active in investing around 2006. I had the benefit [00:00:30] of investing in a very forgiving market for beginner investors. Ultimately, after the financial collapse of 2008, everybody’s playbooks were sort of thrown out the window. What I learned was back in 2008 and nine in Augusta, Georgia, and really in many markets in the country, there were very few property management options that work for intentional investors. So after a number of frustrating [00:01:00] experiences trying to outsource my homes, we just started to manage the several that we had initially.

(01:08):

Auburn was founded with the mission and belief that responsible investing can be good for all community residents, investors, constituents, and stakeholders. Our goal is to improve people, property in places, one residential rental property at a time. Auburn initially really wanted to focus on secondary [00:01:30] and tertiary markets in the Southeast because we felt that those provided the best environment for investors to get good, predictable cashflow yields off their investment property. Auburn Realty currently has four service lines that it’s able to provide to investors of sales, project management, property management, and in-house maintenance. However, we realized that there still are some functions that investors need of basic asset management, direction, [00:02:00] assistance, and oversight of really being able to craft and create the best outcomes for their investments. And so Auburn is currently working on a very structured offering to investors to be able to have full service asset management.

(02:19): We want to be the industry leading asset management service provider for individuals and institutions that want to own residential [00:02:30] rental property.
