Selling My SFR Portfolio – A Series for Property Owners to Optimize Investments
Property owners may consider selling their Single Family Rental (SFR) portfolio for several reasons, such as accessing capital for new investments or planning for retirement. A surge in SFR market values may drive the desire to diversify into other asset classes, or to simply take advantage of the opportunity to cash out. Ongoing maintenance challenges or tenant issues could also serve as motivating factors for selling, to simplify owners’ property management responsibilities. But – is there an ideal time for SFR owners to sell portfolio assets, based on a number of indicators many might not be tracking?
Over the next few weeks, our team will break down the process and provide insight around key steps when selling an SFR portfolio, and how timing and strategy can make all the difference when weighing the challenges and benefits of this significant decision. We’ll end the series with some valuable lessons learned along the way from a seasoned SFR investor, yours truly, who wished someone had told me a long time ago what I learned the hard way.
Stay tuned for the next post, as we discuss the state of the SFR marketplace and why selling your entire portfolio intact can be the most efficient and profitable course of action.
