Zen and the Art of Property management
Can you outsource local expertise?
Led by Auben team member, Mason Brown, our recent book club selection, Leaders Eat Last, has a reference to the Zen Buddhist saying,
“How you do anything is how you do everything.”
It’s a very appropriate saying for the current state of SFR—as investors and operators are determining how best to approach every aspect and function of this burgeoning asset class.
After spending last week at IMN’s SFR East conference in Miami, it’s clear we are all still trying to figure it out. What is also clear is that Auben has a different approach than most.
A lot of people in SFR seem to believe data, tech and outsourcing can deliver a more efficient outcome for their SFR investments. We believe data, tech and remote teams can help. However, we remain committed to a heavy local presence.
This adherence to local expertise is reflected in Auben’s structure with each market having a local market sales manager, aka MSM who is the head of Auben sales activity. And also each market having a senior IAM aka SIAM who is Auben’s operational lead.
As Auben expands our footprint in the coming months to include Charlotte, Greenville/Spartanburg, Charleston, and Atlanta, we will be doing so with local market experts leading the way.
We have diligently been working to recruit the local SFR experts who have completed thousands of BPOs and managed thousands of homes and are currently working to give these experts a network, support, and a deep set of resources.
Check out the video below for additional information on how Auben’s foundational approach to property management allows for specialization which continues to allow our team members to develop expertise:
