As owner of Brooks Properties, Scott Brooks knows real estate investment is the safest and best investment. He currently owns twelve properties and treats each one as a separate business. The most valuable lesson he’s learned in real estate is to let go of worries over missing out. “Don’t fret over losing a really good deal because there’s always another good deal coming.”

A: 12

Q: Who were your first real estate mentors? 

A: Dennis Stanfield and Chris West

Q: When did you start investing? 

A: 2011

Q: Why do you invest in real estate? 

A: I’m convinced it’s the best and safest way to invest your money.

Q: What is the best advice you have received? 

A: ”Treat each property as an individual business. It requires planning, execution, and management.”

Q: What is the best advice you could give a new investor? 

A: Be patient and learn your market. Do your background homework before buying and renting. Don’t over-rehab lower end properties and don’t under-rehab higher end properties.

Q: What is the most valuable lesson you have learned in real estate?

A: Don’t fret over losing a really good deal because there’s always another good deal coming.

Q: Is there a place for you where time slows down?

A: Hilton Head

Q: What is a must-read book you would recommend?

A: “Asset Protection for Real Estate Investors” by Clint Coons.

Q: Do you have any hobbies? 

A: Right now, I’m resuming the restoration of my 1976 Camaro. I began restoring the inside before going to work with Conrex.

Q: If I were a member of a music group, it would be with_________.

A: The Rolling Stones. The best band ever! I was fortunate to see them twice in concert.

Q: If you weren’t investing in real estate you would be_______.

A: Missing out on a really good thing!

Q: If you were to start over_______.

A: I would have invested in real estate many years earlier.

Q: When / how were you introduced to Auben?

A: I met Tyson in 2015 when I began working with Conrex. I also got to know many others that work for Auben through Conrex. Just good people working there. My first impression of Tyson was his passion for the business.

Q: I am happy I chose Auben because _______.

A: There are lots of dedicated folks at Auben. They have a good model set up for property management.
