Do Good Day 2024

Hi! Erin, here, from the Auben Leadership team. I am taking over for Tyson to contribute to Auben’s blog today. This week, we are taking a quick break from discussing the SFR investment industry and shining a spotlight on what makes people enthusiastic about working at Auben – our culture.

Auben’s culture is what initially attracted me to the company. As a marketing and real estate professional, I am heavily involved in market research, keeping up with the competition and staying informed about different perspectives in the industry. What stood out to me, and what I often hear from my colleagues, is Auben’s deep connection and commitment to the local communities in the (now EIGHT and growing!) markets we serve. Our dedication to “Improving People, Properties and Places” is not just a motto; it is embedded in our company culture and shapes our identity.

Auben invites you to join us for two upcoming events to amplify our mission and support a cause that is close to our hearts – mental health awareness and suicide prevention. First, next Tuesday, on Sept. 17, we are celebrating Auben’s Do Good Day in honor of Tyson’s sister, Laura.

Laura was an incredible person who devoted her life to helping others through social work. Doing good brought her immense joy, and she was a true advocate for marginalized and disadvantaged individuals.

On April 19, 2019, Laura tragically took her own life. In memory of her, the first Do Good Day took place exactly two years after her passing. Every year on April 19th and September 17th (Laura’s birthday), Auben closes its doors, gives our teams a paid day off, and honors her memory by contributing to our community in positive ways. You can learn more about this day and how Laura’s legacy continues to bring positivity today by reading Tyson’s post from last April, titled “A Little More Humanity.”

Whether through random acts of kindness or organized volunteer efforts, together we can make a difference! Our Auben teams will be cleaning up local roadways, preparing and serving food for the homeless, volunteering at local schools, and supporting local animal shelters. If you’d like to lend a hand, please contact our Augusta office at: (706) 305-1551.

Additionally, in Columbia, SC, Auben is organizing the “Out of the Darkness Community Walk” on Sunday, Oct. 20th in support of American Foundation for Suicide Preventions’ mission to save lives and bring hope to those affected by suicide. While Out of the Darkness occurs in communities nationwide, the local community walk in Columbia directly supports Deaf Hands of Hope, an organization Laura was involved with.

If you are unable to participate in the “Out of the Darkness Walk” in Columbia, you can donate here.

Your involvement can offer hope to those affected by suicide and mental health challenges. We appreciate your support in memory of Laura!
